Die Geschichte von PHI (Ulvac-PHI und Physical Electronics, Inc.) reicht bis in das Jahr 1969 zur\u00fcck, als die Firma als Spin-off der Universit\u00e4t von Minnesota gegr\u00fcndet wurde. Das erste Produkt war ein Auger-Elektronenspektrometer, aber schon bald entwickelte sich PHI zu einem Anbieter von Oberfl\u00e4chenanalyseger\u00e4ten mit Produkten f\u00fcr XPS, AES und Tof-SIMS.
